SUMMER 2015!

Summer began in early June in this small space, a little deck that looks out onto the verdant gardens of Kauai. It’s just a few steps from Tunnel Beach...

And ended in August in this spare little cottage perched among the serene grasslands of Montana’s Paradise Valley...

In between Kauai and Montana is an entirely different landscape, the City-scape, of Chicago, as seen in these two views from an architectural tour boat from the Navy Pier...

How serene are the rolling grasslands and hills of Montana in the Paradise Valley in these two views. That’s the Emigrant Mountain in the background.

By contrast to the meadows and plains, the Yellowstone River winds its way through the rocky cliffs of Yellowstone National Park.

Seeking a moment’s repast, the weary Montana traveler finds haven in places like this humble Old Saloon in Emigrant, in the Paradise Valley...

Or a more sumptuous dinner at the spectacular Old Faithful Inn, within a few yards of the fabled spring...

In Kauai, down a long dirt road from our cottage, was this invitation to snacks and lunch...

Of course, the sunsets in both Kauai and Montana are theatrical displays of a high order. Twilight walks along the Tunnel Beach surround you with cloud paintings...

And Montana’s skies can turn violently orange and ash-grey, enveloping you in their glow...

This was a summer to remember. I have written about Kauai before. It’s with Chicago and Montana now that I will close. . . as the towers of the city loom overhead...

And the Emigrant Mountain rises like a benediction...
